The most problematic issue is with the player-controlled shop, which randomly locks the player inside. However, there are key features of the game that are in desperate need of attention and patches. Looking back at original gifs and videos of where Ooblets began, it is striking to see the differences compared to its final launch state. It’s a product developed by a tiny studio consisting of a husband-and-wife duo that is as ambitious as it is charming. On the one hand, it feels a bit unfair to hold Ooblets’ issues over the launch. Ooblets, sadly, has a few issues to overcome despite its years-long development. Unfortunately, a game that has spent an extended period of time in Game Preview and had a consistent flow of feedback from avid players should probably not be too broken once it goes 1.0. To slowly transform a small, weed-covered patch of land into something useful and productive is very satisfying in Ooblets, and the sharp humor balances out the cutesy elements of the game.In this day and age players expect bugs at the launch of a new game. The gardening mechanics are satisfying, too, especially once players assign jobs to Ooblets. It's an interesting game with a lot of different elements: the card-based battle system is sweet, and there's a lot to do in Badgetown and the surrounding areas. Once collected, Ooblets can perform tasks on the farm, and take on dance battles to win seeds (which allow the player to grow new Ooblets). As well as clearing the farm, buying seeds, and growing crops to fulfill quests for the locals, the player can befriend Ooblets, a range of little creatures roaming around Badgetown. ![]() ![]() ![]() The player arrives in Badgetown to be presented with a small, run-down farm full of weeds (and potential). Ooblets is a popular game with quirky characters: think Pokemonand Harvest Moon wrapped up into one adorable package.
